What are your thoughts on this swing? I’m not sure what the pitch velocity was. He seems to get the front toe down early.

This just shows that it doesn’t matter what the front leg does if you have a good backside.

It is not the front toe that matters. It is the front heel. Really don't understand how you are getting your conclusion from this video.
Could this have been an off speed pitch? His toe is down, but his hips continue to drift fwd for a few more frames, and his back leg doesn’t start turning until his heel plants.
Not sure how this swing shows the “un-importance” of the front leg?

Yes, I’m sure it was an off speed pitch.
Not the first time I've Tatis Jr do this, I doubt this is due to being pitched a change up. It's almost a no stride approach where he reaches forward onto his toe(testing the water) and then gets FYB same as any other no-stride hitter. It really is a beautiful swing. Athletic guy dumming down the athletics in his swing with a simple approach.

I've seen high leg kick from him as well. Probably another hitter with a two strike approach or changing mechanics to deal with certain pitcher etc etc, who knows.

I have swings of Pujols doing the same thing. So he isn’t hitting a off speed and the rear leg is in complete control.
