Looking to have a complete portable hitting station. Looking at some pitching machines. Golf ball size pitching machine and a pitching machine that I think is underrated .

In the past I had one of these. I didn’t appreciate it. Today I think this is a great aid for timing.

in the past I sat on a bucket with my umpires face mask. Whiffle, golf foam balls (In a direct hit, the ball could pass through the mask) and smush balls.

In which the spring pitching machine can throw them all.

I guess it depends on your definition of well. It certainly takes one better than my chest would!!! A direct hit high on the net from front toss distance will cause it to tip back. But, I use it every time I pitch to DD.
This exactly. The real danger as stated is if you sit behind it to do front-toss from say 20 feet. You get comfortable and lean your head close to the net and it will give a foot or so with a line drive shot, enough for a direct noggin hit. I used in that situation because I was too cheap to buy something more solid and you could swap rods with a bownet big mouth and though I never took a head-shot I wouldn't recommend it.

I have pitched a lot of front toss in team practice, lessons and to my two DD’s.

Its around second year 12u that this light duty net you posted quits working due to impacts moving the net too much. Mine was a bownet pitch through screen. They flex too much and they are too light so they move around. If you don’t pay attention, you are going to get hit.

I now have a Bownet Bodyguard. Very heavy duty compared to that. It still moves some when you have a good hitter blasting balls off it.

Don‘t skimp on your safety. The players will worry about you. It’s not worth the money you save.

In addition to the Bodyguard, I would really like to have a portable, heavy duty folding unit of some kind that is just big enough to sit on a bucket and do flips. If you are careful about angles, speed and trajectory can do a lot sitting on a bucket and flipping balls underhand.

Those pitching screens work perfect. You have to get used to pitching while looking thru the net where just your arm is exposed. Especially true if you are closer. You don't need to be so close to the screen, stay behind it 2-3' and if a line drive hits it, it'll move the screen but to reposition it is easy peasy. Get one, or better yet buy the bownet!

On a related note. My DD’s coach was front tossing her the golf ball sized foam balls the other day. She put one right in the middle of his forehead. . Left a nice round, red mark.

Used a few nets and bownet is my favorite, hard to believe but we are closing in on Xmas, they usually go on sale around thanksgiving.

I also like the pitching machine you showed. No electricity is a big plus. We launched water balloons at niebors kid with it.

(dispite what thier advertising says I found it worthless except for pitching. No luck with fly or ground balls.)
