You’re exactly right, i don’t have a dog in the fight & never have considered myself to be involved. I was merely asking for the insight of other parents and coaches as to the situation and how they would handle it. Really, more interested in coaches opinions & how they would address that situation if it happened with another coach on their team. I agree that it needs to be handled as a team, by the team. I will say, this is a team that is in our area and I don’t doubt for a second that the accusations are true. I would absolutely say that they are true and more that isn’t discussed openly. As for the social media post, I saw it as well and it wasn’t one to point fingers or accusations. It was simply a mother stating what happened and asking other mothers what they would do in the same situation. No names were given, no teams pointed out. I don’t have a problem with that, it was in a private group that was for the intended audience. It is no different than if i were to have a question about how to approach a car dealership on an issue or the like in a private car enthusiast group.

As a coach.....I'd remove this coach from the staff immediately. However...I suspect that they HC (if he's not the HC) already had knowledge of bad behaviors...so they are looking the other way.

I'd remove him just for the drinking part alone. I don't want anyone injured/killed because I had an opportunity to intervene and keep him from drinking while representing my team. God forbid something happen on the way home from a tournament. Now I get it doesn't stop the drinking but it does stop the drinking on my watch.

As a parent....at a minimum we're pulling our DD from the team if the coach isn't removed.

That is where I’m so torn! I completely understand and agree with you. But if the actual parents involved aren’t reporting it to anyone, then do i get involved? I know that sounds ridiculous to even be contemplating. But like everyone also says, softball is a small community and word travels quick. I have not heard the coach’s side of the story. But the drinking I have witnessed first hand.

There are ways to submit a report/complaint/concern anonymously. A newly created email account comes to mind.

Don't answer a question with a question. That's called deflecting.

Can't believe you're picking this hill to die on. Of all the hills to pick from here, you pick the one where a 10 year old girl has been roughed up by a drunk coach.
Not deflecting in the slighest and I dont have a hill to die on.. Again I wasn't there and I dont have a dog in the hunt again. Apparently neither were you , but youre certain this happened.. Thats why I asked what you saw. Thats why I can't comment. I can comment on the amount of unsubstantiated nonsense that blows up on social media. I have difficulty following that thought process.

The people that I coach and I know from the fastpitch community would've beaten down the abuser regardless of who's child it was. I know that for a fact and I've seen it personally. The coach would not have breathed another breath around me if I saw it or it happened to my child. I would not run to social media.

All that said IF my child were part of the team and witnessed this behavior we would have been gone from the jump. Theres more to this story in my opinion

On a more serious note,
Adults grabbing anyone elses kid needs to be addressed by the parent to that adult.
The Head Coach may/should have a firm response as well.

Actually from Popcorn's part of the woods. I'd say this is probably a little more possible than you realize. Have seen some interesting fundraisers.

I have witnessed the drinking at previous tournaments so i know to the point that it happens. And i didn’t lost this to ask if
I should report it. I was asking to see what others would do, coaches and parents alike.
If I was a tournament director, and you have witnessed his drinking, then Id appreciate the heads up of it going on. For everyones safety primarily and also for my liability as the one putting on the event.

Seems like all youd have to do is tell the TD, then they can have the umps keep an eye on him. Once they see him drinking, then “they” were the ones who saw it, and not an “anonymous” parent/spectator/coach etc.

You still didn't answer my questions.

Very telling.
