No need to get to an extreme to justify a longer swing. Longer swings happen all the time. Especially when a pro is trying to adjust a lesser speed pitch. I’ve found using separation as an adjuster is a very good option. But it’s not the norm.

If a fast pitch player Of decent size and age can’t put a ball over the fence w these bats nowadays. Something else is probably wrong. Their Separation doesn’t need to get larger. Their energy transfer probably lacks imo. Probably a few leaks etc.


The shoulders and hands getting ahead of the hips has nothing to do w pre stretch.
Pic 2 the ball is long gone so it doesn't support your argument.
 
This is confusing me. I don’t see any batters swinging and keeping their hips facing the plate Or counter rotation. That seems like a swing using only the arm strength. Maybe you could post a video of you demonstrating this swing. I’m expecting the ball to leave the park as well.

It’s a feel to stay in the ground to stop their hips. Counter rotation happens during the stride( upper twisting back, front shoulder down and in).Seen the Bregman clip?

What?? A doctor says there's a 45 degree inward coil of the hips and shoulders?? Please stop with all this sciencey stuff. :)

Also, notice there is no 'scap load' here. And there shouldn't be according to the good doctor. It should snap like a rubber band when the uncoil happens.

W=W, you mean stalling the hip rotation right before contact allowing the hands/arms/barrel to catch up (closing the gap)?

Yes, Indirectly. Through the back foot and leg. Not letting them turn over. They will, but just resist it best you can. Staying in the ground with that back foot as best as you can. Also maintaining spacing between the feet through contact. Or closing off a bit at stance helps some.

The foot should scissor, recoil or not turn over. Or all three. The hips might reverse rotate as well.

As a golfer, Dr. Rose in your OP caught my attention as well as the reverse hip rotation mentioned above. It reminded me of Rory McIlroy's "hip stall" during his swing. Will keep an open mind on how this may translate to my daughter's softball swing. Here's a related video where John Brenkus and Dr. Rose breakdown how Rory uses his hips during his swing:
