Right Here For Now
Still playing in Ohio but I don't know for how much longer. Rumblings from the Governor's mansion about a statewide shutdown again are starting to be more prevalent.

I am trying out a new policy for myself to try to avoid the politics ... I am opening responses in a separate tab, reading the whole thread, and coming back to see if I feel responding is appropriate. I may or may not be successful ...

On this one I want to say OF COURSE this is the response he gets. This has been the problem all along. While I feel for him fighting for a roster spot and pursuing his dream ... is that the right thing for the greater good? Do you expect people to be sympathetic to a "multi-millionaire trying to play a game and increasing chances to spread a virus during a pandemic?" Now think about this for the people who just make ends meet but have been told their livelihood may not be important and they cannot do it. Is a baseball game THAT important?

I am trying not to come down on one side or the other, but am just trying to put perspective on this because I think the VERSUS mentality on this issue is what is screwing us royally. If we have some perspective and understanding of WHY the other side thinks what they do, maybe we can finally start solving this problem. EVERYBODY thinks their situation is more important or not impact the larger picture. Some may be right, some may be wrong.

good points, but unfortunately I feel most of the responses about players wearing masks have nothing to do with MLB being played and their employment possibley on hiatus. it is simply stupidity and this countries love of making fun of people taking something sereiously that most do not. really unfortunate

Florida
What association was in savannah? Didn't know about a tournament there.

Some stupid Under Armor Softball Factory Showcase or at least the remnants of it. It was always on our schedule as a low-pressure way to send our seniors off after a nationals so we went. Showcase/tournament wise no one missed much. It served our purpose :)

REALLY??? In Florida of all places? My parents (70s) moved to Tampa/Clearwater area and they are just beyond disgusted at the idiocy of Gov De Santis and what's happening in that state. Its like bizarro world. Covid #s are exploding yet everything is opening up again or big events hosted. (NBA, MLS, Disney World)
Bizarro world in that the number of cases are up as considerably more are tested with the majority being asymptomatic? Bizarro in that there has been a fudging of cases to the tune of of almost 90% in some cases? Bizarro in that as a percentage the hospitalization rate and death rates in Florida are minuscule to New York and other states that jammed nursing homes with Covid cases? Bizarro that the original spikes in Florida were caused by travelers from out of state?

Tell me, how much of the spike can be attributed to protests or sports?

Update this evening from USA Preps:

The player who received a positive test result yesterday, prompting us to shut down the Archie Gubler Complex, was re-tested today and received notice of a negative result. The initial test was a FREE test conducted by her local county and took several days for the false positive. Today’s test was paid for at her local clinic and the results were expedited and confirmed to be negative.

We stand by our decision to shut down the complex for the health and safety of everyone involved. We hope this new test result provides everyone with a bit of comfort moving forward.
Funny that the test that gave them the results they wanted is the one they believe. This is a horrible test. With horrible sensitivity and specificity....but it's specificity is better than sensitivity so much more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. Test her again 20 times and you'd probably get a mix of results.
