Say if your DD said "Dad, I not a fan of BLM since it's an anti-police organization, so I'm gonna speak up against it" Would you support your DD then, knowing she would be villified and become an outcast to the "woke" mob, or would you tell your DD "My dear DD, don't say a word because your life will be ruined if you do"

Would tell her to say what she believes in. Doesn't matter which side you're on. I'd much rather them be vilified than be a sheep hiding in the flock.

Just some thoughts...
How many people would want a chance to talk about a momment when you may have expressed yourself the wrong way?
Or
Rather just quit? No chance to talk?

What better of a platform than a team united taking a communicative approach to addressing the tweet.

Who knows what conversation may have accomplished?!

Well, I read that the team did talk to the GM about it, but they weren't happy on how the talk went:

Scrap Yard players told ESPN's Graham Hays that they spoke to May after the game, but the meeting did not go as they hoped.

"We were able to have a discussion about that," Keilani Ricketts said. "It didn't exactly seem like [May] was listening. She said sorry, but her actions–it wasn't exactly clear that she was listening to what we were trying to tell her, what the public has been trying to tell all of us the past few weeks."

Some players walked out of the meeting with May, and as of Tuesday afternoon, they had not heard from her. Scrap Yard has not publicly commented on the tweet either.

Several players have stated their desire to no longer play for the team, although they have also considered the option of finishing their current series in uniforms that don't feature the Scrap Yard logo. Kelsey Stewart, a Black player also on the U.S. Olympic team, told ESPN that USSSA executive director Don DeDonatis III visited the players Monday night and said he'd support whatever decision they reach.

Stewart would prefer to leave the team entirely.

"That trust is entirely broken," she told ESPN. "I will never play for the Scrap Yard organization again."

If they all up and quit, that's certainly there choice, but they put the league in a bad spot, plus the people that work for the Scarpyard will be out of a job. Also, the worst thing is if the Scrapyard Dawgs want to recruit a new team to play, any player trying out will be villianized and ostracized for wanting to play pro ball.

Bottom line, this tweet thing has been blow way out of proportion.

Standing up for your beliefs is great. But I think they missed out on a prime opportunity to really impact some young girls' lives in a positive manner. Instead they played the copycat game and did what everyone else is doing. Let emotions take over and cancel. The 24 hour rule could have really been effective.

Do you think it's good to teach our children to quit every time someone does something that we don't agree with? To cancel someone every time you're embroiled in a dispute? Instead of sitting down, talking about it, resolving the conflict, and growing from the process? What can you learn from or teach to others if you just cancel someone/something every time they say/do something you don't agree with? How about having a discussion to solve the problem instead of trying to attain victory by walking away? Wouldn't that be a great teaching moment for our children to learn from? That you don't have to "win" every time you have a disagreement.

You will face complicated problems that you have to solve with people that are different than you quite often as you go through life. What do you really accomplish by quitting and walking away every time it occurs? The "I showed them by quitting" method only works so many times before you start to realize you're canceling the same problems time and time again while accomplishing nothing to remedy them.

You are building a lot of strawmen.

The info about the meeting obviously came out AFTER I made my post. Might consider checking that before accusing someone of strawman arguments.

You obviously didn't read the rest of what he said.
Thanks.

People read what they want to read these days. They'll look hard for a gotcha moment if they don't agree with you but won't ever counter with any real substance. Like the guy above accusing me of strawman arguments. What did he bring to the table other than an attempt at gotcha? Nothing.

I didn't expect to change any minds here. People are locked in and unwilling to bend. Sad times indeed.
