Bummer!! Sorry to hear, I agree with the Evoshield thumb guard as she comes back.

My DD took a foul tip right off the upper center of her helmet/mask first thing this morning. Looked bad but she shook it off well. I think it woke her up a bit! ;-)

That's a booger right there. I hope she heals fast as those injuries linger more than others. DD used to get pain a lot from improper catching mechanics. Yes, I know it was a freak accident, but this advice ( I know no one asked) helped DD from that point on. Scroll down if you don't want to read. DD's former catching coach (Former conference player of the year-shameless plug for her) taught her and trained her to try to avoid receiving with the thumb point downward. That is less than horizontal. This really helped her tremendously and has never complained about her thumb since. And of course, getting a high end mitt with reinforced thumb slot (padding) really helps too. Wilson A2000 is what she has. 4 years and counting. Speaking of, I need to go condition it as she hasn't touched it since she came home from college in March.

Good tip
Thumb east or west!
( not down, not pointing south)

I feel your pain. During the first game of the season after Covid, DD got her thumb caught on a runners leg as she applied a tag.
Unfortunately it is broken. Cast for 6 weeks. She gets it off the day after travel ball season ends. 725B9748-C7FC-4132-8917-29DDC498F153.jpeg

Aw, man, sorry. We saw hand doc yesterday and it looks like 2-4 weeks, although he will see her weekly in hopes of clearing her early. This just sucks in the year of COVID, and being a rising junior, this summer is so important for exposure.

***Oh, and upon watching the film, looks like it was a foul tip off her glove. Rotten luck.
