The og Freak had nothing to do with the Ultra...haha. Not in the same ballpark, that tells you how good the Ultra was. And im not
talking about the 85 remakes of the Ultra2. The og Gray Ultra and the first Ultra2's is what I mean.

And the Freak lasted a few years before ASA got rid of that bat and the Easton Syn2 at the same time. I actually didn't even like
the og Freak, like the Syn2 better but both had their following.

All this stuff means is the older bats didn't have restrictors inside, so when the composites broke down and down, at some point
they wouldn't pass anymore. Same as all the old Easton Stealths in fastpitch that were just banned a little while ago. If you put enough
swing on them, they will ultimately fail compression. You can take any usssa only slowpitch bat, and at sometime it was fail and
be too hot. I have a bunch of newer usssa bats that wont pass, some bats were so close to the line right out of the wrapper they only last 100 swings. Doesn't mean you cant use them, just not at any tested tourney.

Slowpitch players also got themselves into this situation because of all the extra curriculars they did with their bats (mostly the painting stuff) as all those Freaks looked kinda the same body type...hahaha

The Miken Freak was my first taste into composites wayyy back in the day. After using a 34/34 aluminum Easton in SP for years. We were playing in a tournament out of state, I was lead off standing on deck to start the game, one of the guys tore the wrapper off of a brand new 28oz Freak and said here, use this! My world was changed right then and there with one swing!

So did the whole softball world. Composites changed everything. As balls even got dumbed down, composites can still be adjusted
and be amazing. Metal just was an afterthought when comps broke into the game. The Og Gray Ultra and Og Boombah Cannon
were the best bats I have ever swung. Just completely stupid and unnecessary...haha
Like Nardone said, even the legendary double wall couldn't keep up, especially when balls changed. The DW couldn't do anything.
