Just received an email from Illinois USSSA. Tournaments officially cancelled through June 14.

Also said softball was ‘outdoor activity’, not a ‘gathering’. That potentially eliminates the under 50 person requirement as we move through the “phases”.

We were supposed to play in Mattoon the 12th thru 14th but got the email last Thursday it was cancelled. Knew that was coming.

I didn’t realize there was a difference between an outdoor activity and a gathering. That’s good to know!

When I read the XO I wondered how they would define that.

What I don’t know is if USSSA has had actual confirmation from the state on the group thing, or if they are assuming ‘outdoor activity’ knowing that ‘gathering’ shuts them down for a long time.

USSSA is self-defining, just like GameStop tried to claim it was essential services early on. Don't expect it to stick. The game itself (the players, coaches and umpires) may be considered "outdoor activity" but the parents and spectators are a "gathering".

FYI, Illinois models have pushed our peak out to potentially mid-June now.

Missouri is playing. https://www.stltoday.com/news/multi...ion_118ae061-7f60-5906-b8ba-d6512d1aae20.html
