Chattanooga hard to get to by air....
Atlanta would have been much better
We usually fly to Atlanta and drive to Chattanooga. About 2 hours from the airport. Not ideal but not that bad since we usually play about 30-40 minutes north of Atlanta anyway so it is a little over an hour extra ride.

With a 2022 DD I am just disappointed by the regional model especially since we have to fly to any of them. Dilutes the number of coaches at any of the sites.

The coaches weren't going to travel to it if it were in Colo. They were involved in the process from which the Regional site idea evolved.

Not disagreeing with your point about how they arrived at the regional model, my complaint was more of a self pity over how the corona virus was affecting my DD and many others in the 2022 class. Specifically for her and others interested in high academic schools, they tend to have a national rather than home region recruiting base hence they flock to big events that draw from all regions. Its not an accident that they set up the All IVY camp in Colorado the day before games start at IDT and Fireworks. The regional model while probably unavoidable and better than nothing does force these high academic coaches to choose which regional tournament they want to attend (if any) as there is no option in their home region and that is not their recruiting base anyway.

I hear ya for 2022s this will be a tough road.
My advice would be for uncommitted girls to target one region for schools and learning where those coaches will travel, then attend those showcases (where possible). That may require guest play if needed. Obviously camps, if they start up again soon, will be more important than ever.

Look at the Headfirst Honor Roll Camp for this. We did the one on Long Island last year and are signed up again for the one on Long Island in August. Who knows if it will go forward, but they also have one in FL in November (conflicts with our showcase schedule or else we would go there instead).

Was Denver better than Chattanooga?

Had already pulled out of Denver... so, that is no longer part of the equation. So the question is, do we want to spend forth of July week playing softball in Chattanooga? There are other tournaments in July closer to home that will draw many of the same coaches, so the exposure value of playing in Chattanooga is limited. This is just our situation... I am sure there are others out there who were thrilled to learn it was moved to Chattanooga... I am just not one of them.

I agree the Headfirst camp may become critical this year. MY DD has done the Headfirst Camp on Long Island the last 2 years, we originally were not planning on doing it this year but given the current situation we may have to.

I assume you liked the camp since you are signed up for it again. I found the camp to be incredibly well run. The one downside that DD and a couple of her teammates that also participated all expressed was the length. It is 2 straight incredibly long days especially if you draw the later group but overrall I have to say I would highly reccomend the camp to anyone interested in high academic schools.

We thought it was great. Especially for all the DIII schools/Ivy League. She got a lot of individual attention and has maintained contact with several coaches from last year (2022 also).

How is extended dead period going to impact the Regional Sparklers? Kind of kills the Camp days and showcase games, or I suppose the could move that to end of week? Assuming it doesn't get extended again.

Great question! Wish we had definitive word on the dead period. While I appreciate them not acting too quickly it makes it very difficult to plan when the dead period may just get extended again on the 27th.

Got an email from the All Ivy Camp today, it was scheduled for Monday June 29th in Colorado, they are determining if they can reschedule or if they will have to cancel. They plan on informing us of their decision by this upcoming Monday.
