Appreciate discussions and viewpoints regarding guidelines moving forward.
_______________________

It may be prudent to recognize for kids and young adults, going back to school will
be re-arranged with guidelines.
Indoor sports facilities as businesses will also.
Includes major softball venues
With different City, County, & State guidelines.

With this in mind talking with some coaches and parents there are guidelines being implemented with teams.
Here is an example.
This is a top tier 18u team in calif.
( not an o.c. team )

Firstly a very formal team meeting that introduced what to expect. Included discussion on what events/tournys team may or may not do. With all questions and feedback regarded important.
~ What to expect at practice.
Apon arriving at practice.
Players will have temperature
taken. Players will do a self-assessment regarding a list of symptoms and sign a waiver.
Distancing will be applied at practice.
All players will wash and sanitize hands befor walking on the field to workout.
Each player responsible to awareness of not touching face.
There will be a team spotter assigned
(Off the field) to watch in event of face touching. If Face touching occurs, Player will then need to go wash and sanitize hands immediatly to return to the field.
No extra people/parents to linger around backstop. Or immediate area's to practice field.

To provide a safer atmosphere,
This guidance was gathered by using state and county health preparedness advisories.

Nobody likes a spotter. LOL People touch their face much more than one might think.
At some point we are going to be taking the fun out of it. Maybe 18u teams could do this but what about the 8u team?

Would those guidelines keep your dd from participating in her age bracket because you think its hard to do?
Or just not want to participate because there are guidelines?

Agree youngest age group may be most difficult.
10u less learning curve to it.
12u and up more easily adjust.
Remember schools and indoor facilities will also apply guidelines.

When asked what she would do in order to play again my DD said "almost anything".

She doesn't love wearing a mask (she rarely goes anywhere where she needs to anyway), her hands are chapped from washing them so much and she misses hugs and high fives, but she would be willing to wear a mask, wash/sanitize hands time and time again and celebrate without touching just for the opportunity to play again! She misses playing so much!

I know many people will disagree with me, but guidelines we give our kids should not focus on freaking out if a face is touched or hugging a friend you haven't seen for a while, but rather keep your distance from grandma, grandpa, and your Uncle Louie with asthma.
Totally agree. I don’t feel bad if I let my DD get out a little because we moved halfway across the country and don’t live near any family. It’s just us and I’m willing to take that risk to allow her a little interaction here and there. When she can practice again she will be there, hopefully with no “spotters”.

Friends and family are both important. Interesting how folks will prioritize them!

My students & families are sharing similar chats on this.
I know not doing high fives at lessons will be a habit to break.
In consideration of families different decisions will maintain guidelines as folks will choose different priorities.

Perhaps the spotter thing is to get players/people into better habits?!
