Not surprising. What do all those conferences have in common? They're not P5. These programs basically rely on football to support all their athletics. This is a preemptive request to get ahead of college football possibly being postponed.

Didnt read article but cant image donor would be happy. Nor do I think colleges would want the associated lawsuits (eg contract breach, title x1 etc).
Like everybody else, theyre gonna have to suck up it up and move on.

Several colleges have already made cuts in the last few weeks. ODU cut it’s wrestling program which had been pretty successful, Fayetteville State cut men’s tennis, and Cincinnati cut men’s soccer. I think softball is probably safer than a lot of sports. Men’s programs will be the first to go.

I think they may try to get a title exemption to cut sports that lose the most. Hopefully softball is not on the this list :(

This topic is in the forefront as it is a massive public related business. The first in our face wave of the rippling effect. Consider smaller businesses.
That will be restricted by new distancing protocol.
How many indoor sports training facilities will not offord rent due to lost revenue on filling space inside.
The same will impact classrooms.

Somewhere I Remember that title ix maintains that there must be an equal number of sports between men and women. If they cut softball a men's sport also has to go.
