You know the feeling you get when jammed inside, feels like you hand is bruised. This happens to my DD when hitting off a machine. Makes no difference if she squares it up or not.. hitting off a machine hurts her hand. She's not one to complain and would play on one leg, so I am wondering what she's doing wrong. FYI, the balls are regulation. I know this is a weird topic that doesn't make a lot of sense.. but I am just tossing it out there, :0

Ball spinning differently perhaps? You sure the bat isn't broken? Tell her to stop smacking her father around before she hits? Just throwing some ideas out there...

Take a video of tee work or front toss, and then again in the cage, and compare. Maybe rolling her wrists too early in the cages?

My first guesses...
Cold out...seems hard balls and cold hands make for more pain.
Bats broken or one piece...some bats are worse than others, but a broken bat can really hurt.
Hitting outside the sweet spot...video in slow motion to make sure she’s squaring it up.

Other than that, it shouldn’t make a difference on pitching machine vs front toss.

Same issue. DD gets pretty bad bruising every time we hit machines.

I bought one of these and it helps but isn't a perfect solution.

Amazon product ASIN B004BJ3IF0
I always assumed it was because when she is hitting machines she is hitting 150 balls in a night moving 60mph.

Tee work never hurts because every hit is precise.

Hitting off a pitcher doesn't hurt as much because most of them are throwing slower and there is less volume.

I don't thing it has anything to do with her swing changing. It's just a number of pitches thing.

Might not be getting across her body properly. Machines will just accentuate that In more ways than one.

Like others, just putting something out there.

Have you looked at the bat grip?

I hear ya Clem.. But one would assume she's gripping the same game time as well and should see the same issue, especially when taking one off the hands in the cold springs up here in Canada.

Regardless I am going to look into the Pro Grip Tool to see if that helps. Not sure I want her relying on it long term, but it would be a good test

Sorry for late response. But it’s the hands getting across the chest while the anchor remains. If the anchor lifts at all the swing is then pushed or dragged across the body instead of the core pulling and turning the swing into its connection of back elbow, hip and hands. The term ‘muscling up’ comes to mind. Or hip drive. There are other reasons why it could be happening, but this is what popped into my mind first. If she has a hard time keeping inside pitches fair or gets jammed a lot. It probably has something to do with it. Best guess without video.
