My daughters have begun to dislike the HS game too. They all start, but they say the coaches lack of effort is killing them.
They fuss about it everyday and I tell them to respect their coach, listen to her advise and work hard.
Secretly, I have the same concerns. She stays in her cell phone at practice, not paying attention and when the girls ask for advise on something she basically says do better.

All of the girls play TB except 2 and know what good coaching looks like and they are frustrated. The coach has started asking my oldest to help run practice, but now she’s frustrated because she says she doesn’t get the work she needs.

my plan is to stay supportive of the coach and hopefully the girls bring the coach around.

College coaches cannot go to HS games, in most places. In the NE USA, the seasons are the same so the college coach is worried about his own season, doesn't have time for recruiting. And I'm pretty sure the NCAA recruting calendar disallows coaches to go to HS games this time of year. I think there's only 5 states in the country that play HS ball in the fall and only Iowa plays HS ball in the summer. But the recruting calendar tells when coaches are even ALLOWED to recruit. I'm fairly certain they can't, even if they wanted to right now.

We have had both 4 year and juco schools ask for her high school schedule. I have been told that the local D1 schools have been seen at the state tournament.

I wouldn't know what happens at the state tournament because the last place team in the region does not attend. It is disheartening to see her go down hill as the season wears on it is loss after loss after loss. I can list out the reasons as to why her team can't compete, and they start at the very top, but there's no point.

She has had 2 bad years of Jr High ball followed by 2 worse years of high school ball. When we started playing ball years ago the goal was to play High School, all the fun and the great experience it was supposed to be. It has turned out to nothing but a horror show.

" Almost irrelevant" ?????? Come on man!

Huntington HS, Edison HS, Los Alamitos HS, Mater Dei HS, Orange Lutheran HS, Santa Margarita HS, Cypress HS and many more teams are extremely competitive. Most have a starting pitchers and many of their players committed to a D-1. CIF games are insanely intense and will have 200 to 300 plus spectators easily. Far from irrelevant. Orange County takes their HS softball pretty seriously.

No Norco love???? :)

They come in Georgia! The State Tournament in October in Columbus, GA was crawling with college coaches. We had an SEC coach at one of our games to watch our stud SS.

From a recruiting standpoint, even those schools are irrelevant. Yes, they are very strong teams playing high-level ball, but those players are getting seen and recruited based on what they are doing with their TB teams. As was mentioned previously, the college season and the HS season (in So Cal) are at the same time. College coaches aren't looking at players in HS games. They scout/recruit in fall and summer.

Safety tip: RAD is not a man ;)

Pay attention to the time of year. Fall is a recruiting window. Spring (when most HS seasons are) is not.
