What's the major differences between softball gloves and baseball gloves? I'm looking to buy myself a glove and it would be used to play catch with both my DD's but also catching for one of them. She's only 10 so not throwing fast enough to create discomfort yet...

Softball gloves tend to have smaller hand stalls.
Softball gloves tend to have larger pockets.
Baseball gloves have better / more solid internals.

Softball gloves (the overwhelming majority) have velcro, baseball gloves do not, baseball gloves win hands down for this alone!

What’s your budget? What size glove are you comfortable with? What size hands do you have?

A couple hundred is probably my limit, I have a LS 12.5 now, and I probably have a medium size hand.....

I like baseball outfielders gloves (12.5" - 12.75") for softball use as a coach/dad. Lots of options at whatever budget you want.

If you're growing a pitcher, you're going to want decent hand protection pretty soon. Get your thumb joint bruised a couple of times and your urgency will increase in a hurry.

This SoftballFans exclusive is a no brainer!

Rawlings Pro504, it’s a full Horween inside & out 12.5” H-web. Chad over there has them discounted 25% right now which is a smoking deal on this glove, there’s not a better glove deal out there right now!

Mizuno Pro-Select 12.75" in brown.

And a Pro-Select in black.

These are of outstanding quality but rarely seen below their $250 retail price which makes that Pro504 even harder to resist! Plus that 504 is such a rare model and a great pattern, I don't think the Pro504 has ever been offered in a retail model before, just custom and exclusives, I think?

I'd love to have that black Pro-Select, but between the Mizuno and that Horween Pro504...........504 wins everyday!

You can also look at mens softball gloves...which has adult hand stalls and big pockets/big gloves.
These you can get 12ish-15 inch.

Now the kicker here is, for some reason, concensus is softball guys just don't spend money on gloves, so retail on
a good mens softball glove is only like 140ish (remember, that's retail) or less. But you also don't get as top notch
as baseball gloves, and price isn't as high. So you can grab one for like 100 bucks or so

Just throwing another choice in there if the glove is just to play catch and not break the bank.

And being honest, I use a mens softball glove and it lasts just fine. Although in my typical fashion, found
one I liked and bought 3 of them 15-20 years ago...haha. I am going to have to be on the search though
soon for another.
