Only thing I will say is please please please don't yell the numbers to the players. That is so annoying. Hearing "4173!, 5296!, 2238!" all game long is a beatdown. Use your fingers.
As a parent, I totally get where you’re coming from, but as a coach I’m not really concerned how people perceive it. It’s about communicating with the players, and helping them succeed, holding up numbers could be missed

You want to develop them? Then hold up numbers. Because that's how they do it in college. They don't yell them out.

They normally yell them out in college as well. And use fingers. And both. And...

Every college is different.

If you want good examples go to www.nevermissasign.com. About 1/2 the coaches I know use this to produce their wristbands.

This is one of those things there's no reason to pay money for.

Just make a grid in Excel. You can even use cell shading to add some color to it, which I've found really helps.

Never miss a sign is what i purchased. Very easy to use. Good luck on outfielders picking up just your fingers on a play call.
