thanks for the reply.

RE: Pivot - Would you say a neck slot swing like Brett is less optimal because there wouldn't be the ability to get the barrel up to speed faster? i think i saw a twitter post that time to contact was the same, but i just can't seem to picture how that is. I see it like someone being allowed to start ten meters back in a sprint and have a running start, and the other in the blocks and the race starts when they are both at the line. The person with the running start is already up to speed and the person in the blocks has a disadvantage.

I suppose this goes back to the question on the definition of TTB. Is TTB the action before getting on plane, or like a neck slot swing being already on plane and the action from neck thru to contact. Like a vehicle, you turn the vehicle until you are pointed the direction you want. So TTB would be the time until you get on plane? And if that is the case, then theoretically you cannot TTB with a neck slot swing?

semantics at this point, as i guess just getting on plane at the earliest point with as much velocity as possible is the key. whatever we call it is irrelevant.

To me the question comes down to how quickly the hitter is torquing the handle. If we must first move the bat to a different location and then torque it, we are losing valuable time. Time a hitter cannot afford because of how small the window is already.

Add in the obliques amongst other available resources that make rotation a result will make the whipping movement look similar.. Arod is doing all he can to avoid supinating the rear forearm while whipping the barrel down.

Regardless - I agree with Antonelli that if you showed a kid Arod on the right and said "do this" - which is what thousands of coaches and parents are likely doing this week - it will not work out well.

Didnt watch the video. Saw the red arrows. Correct. Elbow down barrel on plane. It’s not forced but it keeps the barrel up to be short in the vertical plane. Stay on top. Get the body to leverage these actions. Result: baseball swing

I just wanted to throw my crazy drawing into the mix on how I understand it, after following this thread for a while now LOL. I'm of the opinion that AROD is not too far off. His Demo is misleading. But I think there is something to be gained there. The coiled energy of the body when a player loads etc. is released it is turning on 3 different planes. I starts in downward tilted plane, transitions into a linear plane, then a upward plane. All with tilt. I'm not real technical so bear with me. If take your hands in a straight path as AROD demoed as the body is turning, it will cause TTB naturally. The hands will move naturally in a path like his game swing. Simply because of Rotational forces. like some say A merry go round.
