My daughter is 2020 pitcher that will be going on her first college visit Wednesday. It is a school that has seen her play and seems to be very interested in her. Any advise for the visit? Mainly for me so I don't hurt her chances.
Thank you

2020 have no limits in communications, so you are good here.

- Sit down with your DD and have her list out all the questions she wants to ask while there and questions you may have that she can also ask.
- Make sure your DD has a GOOD understanding of the school as a school as well as a potential place to play softball. You should also know this as well. It is all on the schools website.
- Once introduction have concluded, step into the background as much as possible. Let your DD do all the talking, questioning and answering. Try to answer only questions directed to you. You WILL see an obvious cue to ask a particular question that your DD will miss - try to resist butting in
- You have an active part if money/admissions/academics are discussed since you will likely be the person out of pocket. And that is an area where you should be involved. Coach may or may not be able to answer, but admissions/financial aid will - how much am I going to be out of pocket.
- Say thank you at the end.
- Sit down with DD afterwards to discuss what next steps are.

I have literally walked 3 steps behind college staff and my DD as they walked around campus and facilities and said nothing (which is a miracle if you know me).

I'd only add to help prepare her for likely questions. She can earn a lot of points by communicating clearly and saying more than just "good".

-Where are you in the recruiting process?
-Have you picked a major?
-How was your season?

Was at a prospect camp last weekend and I kid you not, a mom shouts from the bleachers, "girls name, honey do you need your sunglasses?!"

I nearly dove under the bleachers for fear the coaches would think she was my wife yelling to my DD.
