DD will be playing this year and we are wondering whether to buy her umpteenth new bat, cleats, etc.

Congrats and good luck to your DD!.

You’ll want to ask the coach about equipment. It varies widely from school to school.

Congratulations! My DD is also starting her D3 college journey this year. The school is providing cleats, a bat bag, and several other items (shirts, jacket, etc.). We will be buying a new bat and recently bought her a custom glove.

Agree with all that's been posted (including congratulations to your daughter and I hope she enjoys her journey). Varies widely from school to school. My daughter's D3 school provides some practice gear, cleats and bag (but she still brings her own bag for the off-season). Gloves, bats, batting gloves, headbands, etc. are all your own. Some schools may have a "preferred relationship" with a company with discounted bats/gloves.

Have your DD ask coach or a team captain. Is she through fall ball now and on the team - had her coaches meeting? Some schools have partnerships that give discounts I’ve heard.

Our experience DD got nothing at D3. Just a T shirt for fall round robin. Not even a sticker for a helmet. Got issued bags and uniforms in spring. When our DD moved to D2 it was a lot different but still spent a lot of money - the team parents there were a great help.

They are going to start fall ball next week. I would imagine they would provide bags - unless they want 20 different travel team bags along the dugout
.
