After a visit Thursday and coach coming to watch DD for a couple of games on Friday and Saturday, DD got an offer.

It is a great school, great environment - D3 school with a decent softball program on the rise with a lot of talent coming in. Cost after academic money will be extremely reasonable. Not zero but less than I spend on her today :)

It is a good option and the school itself just feels like it is the sort of place my DD would thrive academically. There is no pressure to make a decision today, but it is great to know it is there.

Marriard - Can you tell us anything else about the interactions with this school prior to the visit and the coach coming to watch? Just curious how long your DD had been corresponding with the coach an whether she went to a camp there. My DD is an incoming Freshman so hearing others journeys to fulfilling their dreams is super beneficial. Thanks in advance.

Sure... and this is working for other schools she is in contact with (or not in some cases).

- This school came up multiple times as a great match on multiple college search websites. Sites such as College Confidential. Figured that was telling her something.
- DD researched the school, made sure it had programs she wanted academically
- As a freshman she started sending emails and skills video to the coach, filled out their recruiting questionnaire.
- Has continued to email updates over the past 24 months (DD is a rising Junior)
- Started getting camp invites and a couple of personal emails. We have not been to a camp at the school but always sent regrets that the timing never worked
- Interest peaked a couple of weeks ago when my DD told the coach that she signed up for the college admission tour and hoped they could meet either before or after (i.e. DD showed direct interest in the school)

Without sounding too biased, DD is at the very top end of softball talent this school would get. Conversations with the coach mentioned this a couple of times - she was hesitant to engage a lot with my DD because she felt the chances she would actually attend there were small - you have to love the school and my DD had not been on campus. Coach may still be right but she has a real chance. It was really the direct interest my DD showed for the school that triggered the coach.

If this is in terms of travel ball cost, it just may be less expensive to pay tuition, room and board, housing and books outright! j/k Congrats to your DD.
