I don't want to reveal the name for privacy reasons, but my DD committed this week to one of her top choice schools, with a guaranteed roster spot. Median ACT for this school is 34, and GPA is 4.0. I want to thank the posters here for helping us with the journey.

My DD looked at(and was offered) multiple "high academic" school spots, and what I want posters to note is if that is the way your DD is leaning, it is not a thing to be offered a spot in 8th or 9th grade, and the real recruiting doesn't start til after Sophomore year. My DD often felt bad to hear other girls bragging about their early commits, but it all worked out in the end.

Helpful hints are to take the ACT after sophomore or at the beginning of junior year, because that's what all the coaches need before they can consider you seriously. Look at the rosters of the schools your DD is considering and see how tall the players are, their majors, and where they are from. Watch them play a game or two on line. This will help you see if your DD is a possible match. These schools have smaller rosters and can often assist only 3-4 girls per year. See what positions are opening up, tho of course everyone wants pitchers.

Pick a few top schools and attend their Fall or Winter Camps. That's a great chance for 1 on 1, meeting the team, and campus visits. Attend the NECSA summer camp at Babson sophomore and junior summer-all the NESCAC and NEWMAC coaches will be there at least one day. Williams pretty much recruits only from their own camps, so if Williams is your target, be sure to attend one. We also found the Headfirst Showcase Camp worth every penny-well-run, and a great format with exposure to just about every high academic and Ivy school in the country- DD went twice-Fall of Junior Year, and summer between Junior and Senior year. She got multiple offers from coaches who had only seen her play there.

We live in a remote part of the country without any big travel teams. She really pretty much did this herself at these showcases. She's thrilled to have met her goal and be "living the dream" and so am I!
If you are thinking Ivy, NESCAC, NEWMAC, or other high academic school for your DD, feel free to message me and I'll help if I can with advise. IT CAN BE DONE!

Thanks again

Congratulations and Well done! We have finished the recruiting business but This information is unique (and great) for anyone considering the rarified air of high level academic schools!
Thank you!
