DD went on a unofficial visit about 3 weeks ago. The visit went good and had good vibes from both coaches. They said they really like what they have seen at Camp but wasn’t prepared to make a offer until seeing her play. Today we get a call from TB Coach saying they have decided to offer her. Does anybody think that the new rule was a reason to go ahead and offer my DD and how do you think the new rule will affect the travel ball circuit.

I think the new rule for DI recruiting contact went into effect on 4/25 (??), so based on the date of your post, nothing improper was done, but the rule may well have been a factor in making the offer. That said, whether she accepted the offer or not, at this point that coach can no longer have any contact with your daughter (or you, or her TB/HS coaches, etc.) about recruiting stuff until Sept 1 of her Junior year (assuming DI school).

How all of this will affect travel ball remains to be seen. There will still be exposure tournaments, camps, etc., that coaches will attend. After all, they still need to be able to see who is coming down the pike even if they can't have any contact yet. Hopefully, some of the craziness and pressure on these young girls will lessen, and 12, 13, 14, and 15 year old girls will be allowed to be just that - 12, 13, 14, and 15 year old girls who can focus on getting better at the game, becoming strong students, and develop a sense of what they want to do/be with their lives.

I get that the new rule is a real disruption for girls currently in the "old" recruiting cycle who are now directly impacted. However, in 3-4 years, Sept 1 of Junior year is going to be a non-issue because everyone will have adjusted and it will just be the way it is.
