DD wants to transfer from the Juco she is attending. She will finish out the year there and then wants to move on. At what point can she actually speak to another Juco coach? Can she talk to either NAIA or NCAA division II or III coaches or must she wait until season end to do so? If she is not allowed to contact coaches, can a previous coach do so on her behalf? Any advice or help would be appreciated. We've tried to read the transfer rules, but it's honestly like trying to read tax code to me. I think we understand, but don't want to get it wrong and get in trouble!

I am not going to be much help here but saw nobody has responded yet. Does your DD's school have a compliance officer that can help you through the process? If so I would think starting there would be reasonable.

I may not be much help either but the NJCAA letter of intent only applies to other NJCAA schools. Players can still go to NAIA or NCAA schools without being released from their schools without penalty. So I would imagine that your DD can talk to other 4 year school coaches without penalty. When it comes to other JUCO coaches I am only assuming that she would need the Ok from her school/coach. And depending on her standing with her current coach she should also let the coach know what she is doing. My DD was talking to a couple of D2 schools over the summer between her freshman and sophomore years and one was interested in her transferring for her sophomore year but my DD never pulled the trigger.
