DD received a call from her TB coach to tell her that a coach wanted her to call him. While on the call the coach tells her that he would like her to attend a home game if she can find time to go and watch. He said to let him know what game she could make it to. We started to check our schedule and the only home game weekend that she was without a doubt free for was today (3-25).
This was determined on Tuesday evening and the coach was messaged on Wednesday. This weekends series is the home opener for their conference play. So when Thursday rolled around and she didn't hear anything from her TB coach about going to the upcoming game. She attempted to give the coach a call but was unable to speak to him so she left a voice mail saying how she is excited about the upcoming game and to wish him and his team luck.
So today my family is sitting at the game as I type this and we really have know idea if the coach even knows she is there or not. I was expecting to hear something from the coach if not directly from him a relayed message from her TB coach, they have a decent relationship.
So my family is 6 hours away from home on a school and work night watching a game that I was hoping she would have interaction with the coach at but doesn't look like she will. They did not want to not show up to the game because she texted and left a message saying she was going. I know in the future a lot more planning needs to be had but this is the only game she could get to.
I would like to know how you all planned for stuff like this. How often did your child speak to a potential coach that is showing interest while in the recruiting cycle, did the frequency of the phone calls change during the season compared to off season? I know that the coaches are busy during the season but I still expected to hear something. Am I just over thinking this?
