An MRI this morning confirmed my DD has a torn labrum in her right hip. She is not sure how or when it happened, but the plan is to try to play through the pain with a cortisone shot and PT. At the end of the season her DR will reevaluate her and decide if they want to continue to treat with PT or opt for a surgical repair. On a positive note this weekends games will be broadcast on the ACC Network on WatchESPN!

Ugh! That just looks like it must be painful... I wish her the best as she plays through it. Will we still see you next weekend in Orlando?

Sorry to hear about the injury. Not very familiar with that type of injury but I hope it is the type of injury that can self heal, and your daughter has a successful recovery.

Hopefully it's not too painful and she can complete her inaugural season. Must be frustrating after so much work to get there. Best of luck!

Ouch - I have heard of this happening - I know of two players (C/3B & RHP/1B) I recall had to have surgery done - one was out for a good 6 months (playing for D3 now), and the other had hip joint repair in addition to labrum tear repair - she's out for 6 months too (also playing D3 - not sure if she will play again tho). Hopefully, PT and the shots will be all your DD needs to heal. What is the pain like? Twinges or sharp stabbing pain? I can't even imagine trying to pitch through that - it's one thing for it to be on left side but it's on her right, and that's a lot of motion for that side, right? Regardless, wishing Huey the best of luck!!

Not here.
Sorry to hear of this about both DD's. I hope for speedy recovery's. Sucks when the girls work so hard to get where they're at.....

Prayers for a speedy recovery! I hope that PT and shots can make it manageable for her. I will definitely be watching on the app this weekend! I am not very familiar with this injury. Is it an overuse injury? Or a possible fall/accident injury?

Ouch. Personal experience with a torn labrum in my hip (you can get it in your shoulder too, so if any of your DD's have persistent, undiagnosed shoulder problems, take heed). If you have any questions, happy to help. Only way to accurately diagnose is with an MRI with dye, which is sounds like you got. I opted against cortisone because it's not a permanent fix, and the labrum will not heal on it's own. Surgery for me was pretty seamless, and although recovery varies, I was back running after 6-8 weeks. I'm sure you have one, but be sure you have an ortho who specializes in labral tears. I was lucky in that one of two that were top in the country was in my area. I'm sure there are more orthos that specialize in it now, but a couple of years ago there were only a few. Hope she's not in too much pain, and good luck!
