Took DD to a camp & unofficial over the weekend and she fell in love . She performed very well at the camp and the coaches acted as if they were impressed. So from this point forward is there anything particular that DD should be doing besides staying in touch with the coaching staff?

Ask coach for her ranking.
Make sure coach knows this is her #1.
Ask when coach will make a decision about commiting her.
stay in touch weekly with a voice call

I suggest that anyone asking for recruiting advice should include their DDs year of graduation. You should get different responses depending on how close she is to the finish line.
Good luck !

Good luck !

And the division of the school as the rules regarding contact and commitment are quite different.

My $0.02....
1) Confirm your DD loves the school and not just the coaching staff.
2) Coaching staffs can change before your DD gets there or while she is there.
3) Let the coaching staff know your DD is very interested, but avoid the temptation to overdo it.
4) Keep the coaching staff updated on your DD's schedule and accomplishments.
5) Do not put all of her eggs in one basket.
6) Your DD needs at least a top-5 that she is communicating with regularly: 2 dream schools, 2 average and 1-2 fall back options.
7) Treat recruiting like a game of poker and do not get too emotional one way or another.
8) A coach's job is to sign as many quality players as they can so it is in their best interest to sign each player for as little as possible.
9) Use total out of pocket costs when comparing offers.
10) Schedule an unofficial visit for a tour of the academic and athletic facilities before the recruiting rules change.
a) a private tour shows more interest than a group tour
b) head coach providing tour shows more interest than an AC
c) AC leading the tour shows more interest than someone from administration

Thanks for the advice JAD.

She does like the coaching staff which is an added bonus but the campus fits what she has been saying she is looking for. The HC coach is only in her 2nd year there so hopefully she will be there for years to come. The reason for the camp was so that she could be seen by the head coach. One of the AC is the recruiter for the team and when she finds someone she likes they will invite them to a camp etc... to be seen by the head coach. So that is where we are now and looking for opinions from people who have been through this before.

Most coaches are given 4-year initial contracts since it will take 4 years for a coach to field only players they recruited. Schools have different measurements of success, some use W/L, some use graduation rates, no NCAA violations, ect. As softball has risen in popularity, so has the pressure for coaches to win, especially in the P5.
