I really don't have a problem with 14U teams playing showcases. Most second year girls are entering the 10th grade so that would be one year out from their junior year and prime recruiting time under the guidelines. I do have a major problem with them letting 12U teams in. Twice in power pool games we played girls 2 years younger than us this fall and it was terrible. I do not care what organization the team is from they can not compete with good teams that much older than them.

Keeping 14U teams in showcases spreads out the tournaments, diluting the number of college coaches watching the 16U and 18U games.

Yeah but these rules wont. As written, the only thing that changes is that 'verbals' can't be made (well they still will be, just not publicly) and your DD can't call a D1 coach and have them talk to the player. Coaches will still go through coaches, parents, agents, etc, etc... And guess what - I'll just take my 14U and play up in 16U if you make me. No big deal.

Everything else remains the same. And it doesn't effect D2, D3, NAIA or JUCO either.

Also, even if this DID work, the coaches would still want to watch all the 14U games in prep for when they become 16U teams so they aren't going anywhere. So they could be as early as possible in talking to someone the moment they could.
