100% offer from NAIA school or 50% from a big D1, which one would you choose?

Depends on the player and the family situation. Can the family afford to pay 50% at the big school? I think a 50% bigtime D1 offer is a pretty dang good offer but you can't beat FREE. Some players want to know if they can play with the very best in the nation so they want to take a shot at a big D1. Others want to PLAY without taking the chance that they might sit the bench and don't care what level they play at. If you said mid-major D1 that nobody has ever heard of, I would lean towards NAIA 100% offer.

A lot also depends on the schools. locations and quality of academics as well as costs. It also depends on what the offers cover, i.e tuition, books, room and board and what the final out of pocket is between the offers.

It depends if you can get other money from the D1 school...if she can get other scholarships.

Plus what does 100% mean? What will your out of pocket expense be?

Out of pocket expense will be 0. They are paying tuition, room and board and books. It cost arount 36,000/year to go to that school.

As mentioned in another thread, not all D1's are the same. Academically speaking, which has the better reputation? Can she choose any major that she wants at the D1? Which team is more competitive? Can she compete for a conference championship? Playing opportunities? Foul balls or Fair balls freshman year? Dorm rooms? Distance from home? Work out/practice schedules? Coaching? There are a ton more questions to ask before I would be able to choose.

Thanks for all the replys. We watched Burn the Ship on Hulu and she decided to go with the NAIA. She will be able to do her degree in medical field and get a bachelors degree paid in full. It will be great to bragg about my kid playing D1 ball, but the reality after 4 years is prety harsh.
