I'm going to upset people again but simply using the title,"DI" doesn't really mean much. If you are talking a power conference, then it is a big deal. Still, there are D-I schools that are not in the power conferences that range from pretty good to down right terrible. Fact!

The question should not be the difference in NAIA or D-I but rather the quality of that education and degree.

100% agree with this.
Playing in D1 power conference is a big deal, but what kind of degree can a kid playing in big D1 school come out with? Sad reality is 99.99% of the softball athletes cannot earn a living playing softball.
The way I explained to my daughter was, NAIA is paying her 38,000 per year thats 152000$ for 4 years for a great education and a degree with which she can earn a respectable income.
D1 is paying her 7000$ per year thats 28000$ for 4 years and we have to pay another 28000$ to earn a not so competative degree.
152000$ is the most she is ever going to make playing softball.

I know this will never happen but I wish posters would name the schools and state what position their DD plays.

Question... Isn't the offer good only for a year? I was under the impression that it gets renewed each year. Please tell me I'm wrong!

Yes, it's a 1 year offer that will be renewed each year.

I kind of made this comment tongue and cheek but was also serious in a way because when posters talk about their DD's experiences, I for one always wonder what position their DD plays. The position is very relevant to the offers the kids get plus it's nice to know the position so you can relate the offer and position to your DD's own situation. Congrats to your DD Phandle!
