Cold weather multi-college camp?

DD is a Florida girl...

She has been getting a lot of attention from some NE colleges and they have been asking whether she is open to a northern school. So she needs to find out whether she can hack a cold weather college. She is dubious... however I did it so I have no doubt she would be fine.

We were planning on going to the New England Finest Winter camp in January, but I am unsure whether that is happening this year.

Any other camps make sense?

(Note: January.... not when I could fool her when it is gorgeous in July)

I met my wife at Tufts, she is from Hawaii. She ran track and in the spring sometimes she would run (in track briefs) in snow...Your DD will be fine ;)

Yeah, I grew up in basically the outback of Australia and went to college in Michigan. 'Fine' versus 'Happy' are two different things :)

True, my wife was happy but it is probably because she had such a wonderful boyfriend

Weather played a role in DD's decision making and all things being equal she preferred a milder climate, but there are several factors, including quality of the school that take precedent over weather concerns.

You probably already know, but camps in the winter are usually indoors.

As far as schools go, Playing ball up here is tricky in the "spring" where it is cold and rainy or snowy until the middle of may :D
The key is dressing for it- layers and have more than one set of practice layers. Under armor long sleeve pants and shirts. Keep as dry as possible when playing/practicing in inclement weather. We are in the Boston Ma area and I remember DDs freshman year HS , pitching in a preseason game (late march or early April), playing in sleet on the turf football field because there were no ball fields that weren't covered with snow. I could see her hands were bright red. It was miserable, but fortunately it's not usually that bad. In Dlll Spring is cold until The playoffs start, then it could be sweltering or cold.

That being said, my DD is looking at a school close to the Canadian border, where I think you don't need a jacket after June :D

I played at Tufts for a couple of years. Main problem I had is we MAYBE could get outside a couple of times before we went down South to play our first 8 to 10 games during Spring Break. Fielding ground balls indoors, at least the stuff we had to play on inside during my time, was nothing like fielding on grass (I was a MI). Playing outside in the cold wasn't too bad for me but I grew up in MA so I guess I was used to it.

Something to consider when looking at cold weather schools is the schedule and travel. Five to six straight weekends on the road is grueling. Be prepared for multiple connecting flights and some LONG layovers, especially if the school isn’t in a hub city. It was common to leave before sunrise on Thursday and return well after midnight on Sunday.
