DD gets first offer about two weeks ago from a school that was unexpected during a play day on campus.(had never showed interest). Now the first school that gave her any attention is inviting her for a weekend visit to watch them play and attend a basketball game. This school showed a lot of interest and made a point to let her know they was recruiting her. They also invited her to camp back in June. I’m new to the recruiting scene. Does this look like a possible offer or just a way to see if my DD is interested in them?

Yes DD is interned. She has a 3.9 GPA and looks at academic first. She knows that your next play could be your last but what you put between you ears are yours for a lift time.

Any time a college coach shows interest is a positive sign, and the more offers your DD can accumulate the better! Parents need to realize that it is in a college coaches best interest to offer your DD the least amount they can to get her to commit, while it is in your DD's best interest to maximize the offer to minimize her out-of-pocket costs. More offers = more competition and higher offers. It will also eliminate the "tire kickers".

So it is possible for DD offer from a the school to increase once they have already offered?

Yes, if school A offers your DD 50% and school B offers 75%, there is nothing preventing you from going back to School A and asking them to match or beat the offer from School B. Just know that once your DD's signs her NLI she loses @ 90% of her bargaining power, so she needs to negotiate the best deal she can up front.

Thanks for the information. This is new to use and we wasn’t thinking of having a offer until maybe end of summer next year
