Does the NCAA get the ticket money for the WCWS? Now the quality of the facilities can be a concern, as I am sure the NCAA would like a venue that can comfortably accommodate the anticipated crowds.

So, on Saturday, UNC hosted the ACC championship game. I left after 15 minutes and went home and watched it on TV because I couldn't see. Some places in the portable bleachers wouldn't allow you to see home plate (ie, the batter). Some places in the permanent section couldn't see LF because of the portable seating. And dozens of people were standing on tip-toes and peaking in odd places, hoping to secure a good glimpse. People in good seats were afraid to go pee for fear of losing a cherished sight line.

Don't know what it's like at Minnesota or James Madison, but I can see where facility might be a concern. I do think it's fair to have certain minimum facility and ticket-sales requirements to host. Shouldn't effect a team's seeding, but I don't think it's wrong for the NCAA to hold the NCAA tournament to a high standard. Just don't pretend that Minnesota is the #17 seed. Make them the #9 and send them on the road if they don't meet the standard.

My Alma Mater lost out hosting a Super Regional because they shore the field with the Cardinals double AA team and they would have been home that weekend. The NCAA wouldn't allow them to share the stadium and no other option was deemed suitable to hold a Super Regional.

Season attendance is meaningless. There's a huge difference in the weather here between early April weather and Late May. Jane Sage Cowles is a very nice stadium. They hosted a couple years ago and the place was packed. Parking sucks, but that shouldn't be a consideration. Alabama might hold a couple hundred more people, but any difference in revenue would be peanuts to the NCAA.

I'm fine with them not hosting a Super based on their schedule. It makes no sense they didn't get a Regional.

Minnesota's stadium only seats 1,000.

Alabama's stadium seats 4,000

and yes all teams in the Northern conferences play tournaments and away games in the South while their stadiums are covered in snow until about early April so that means 2 months on the road not to mention the inability have real practices etc.

Yup, I figured that out after I posted. They expanded seating last time we hosted, but it only got it up to 1,200.

I still can't imagine 3k tickets would generate enough revenue to make a difference in who hosts.

I get the feeling that if Minnesota went undefeated this season and had a tougher schedule, they still wouldn't have been allowed to host the regional? The business of college sports is certainly not about what is equitable and fair...

3,000 at $20 for the weekend is $30,000. That's a big difference.
