Large reductions and compression of showcase seasons for D-I are great news for parents and bad news for showcase industry.

- Fall reduced to 12 days on 6 weekends prior to Thanksgiving.

- Winter and spring are out.

- Summer is 9-1/2 weeks (10 weekends) following D-I Championship.

You can tell a warm weather school came up with this crap. In the cold weather states August and September are prime showcase dates. Now all the cold weather states will be competing for tournament slots against local warm weather teams.

This is a proposal, or its set in stone?
It is set to go into effect Aug 1, unless extraordinary action is taken to reverse it.

Here's a letter with the dates for 2017-18 - https://gallery.mailchimp.com/8b48f6c9dedaacafd7dce2401/files/a4e9ac78-6b65-4520-8131-02d947d39379/Division_I_Recruiting_Calendar.pdf. It also mentions 2 proposals that were tabled:

1. Allow official visits junior year and not allow arranged unofficial visits before then.

2. Allow student-athletes to participate in fall competition without triggering season of competition.

Someone identifying himself as Bill Conroy (probably was him) made these posts on another site:

You're correct with regards to the legislation that prohibits college D1 coaches from recruiting at tournaments or non institutional camps except for the 10 weeks following the college World Series and the 6 Saturdays and Sundays between Oct 14 - Nov 19.
Although it was announced by NFCA, I believe it was originally created by Texas A&M with the goal of bringing back the competitive element of tournaments as well as less motivation to take kids out of school for showcases and camps.

The PGF Labor Day Showcase is now an Institutional Camp/Clinic, which also includes the pool play games, meaning ownership and control are now managed and owned by JMU/Coach Dean and all 22 coaches are now employed by JMU/Coach Dean for the camp/clinic. The elimination portion of the tournament won't be able to attended by college coaches.

I would say with 99.99% certainty that it was BC that made that post since he does have close ties with JMU and the Labor Day Showcase is(was) his event. He and GTQ have been on top of these changes since they came about. Also Conroy's OnDeck Banditfest camp in January is now being 'run' by Northwestern I believe.
