As most of you know I am an avid Auburn fan, and there is an argument going on the Auburn message board regarding whether or not Kaylee Carlson is legal. Do any of you who are smarter than myself, have a way to super impose a line from home plate to the edge of the pitching plate to see if she is stepping outside of the line when she pitches? After Kaylee is done throwing warm up pitches the chalk lines are gone (probably intentionally).

Man is everything fair game now? She real goes off to the side of the 24" line. Dd will be a freshman at a div3 school this fall. I guess she will have to learn the secrets of cheating.

Of course she is illegal but until blue calls it, I guess not.

Not only is she outside the pitching lines, she also regularly leaps to get out that far away from where she starts (not every pitch and it looks like she tries not to, but certainly on some).

Anybody can watch a video over and over, freeze frame it, and play it in slow motion.

The PU (who this call belongs to) has one chance on each pitch to make that call...with that little yellow sphere coming at him at 60+ MPH.
Even going through this video frame by frame, it's hard to tell if her toe may be touching part of the line. in other words...it's very close.
I would not expect this call to be made in real time during a game.

If it happens once in a blue moon, yes understandably the umpire will miss the call. But when it is obvious and consistent pitch after pitch the umpire is either incompetent or just lazy.

not to change the subject, but
where has her change-up gone?

As long as she is effective not throwing a change-up I guess she is saving it. Will be interesting to see if she uses it more this weekend when they play UF. Speaking of which, those of us who like to pontificate on legal/illegal pitching, there is a potential Kaylee Carlson vs. Kelly Barnhill showdown looming this weekend!

Here we go again....another "illegal" pitcher and a coach who should be fired because he recruits illegal pitchers. By the end of the season only a few of the 13 SEC teams will be legal and worthy of the WCWS trophy :)
