Here we go again....another "illegal" pitcher and a coach who should be fired because he recruits illegal pitchers. By the end of the season only a few of the 13 SEC teams will be legal and worthy of the WCWS trophy :)

Thank you for a textbook strawman. You are the only one who has ever mentioned firing a coach or banning a player for IP's.

It's hard to argue with her success, but her mechanics seem so strange to me (a novice who barely understands this stuff yet).

Let's assume for a minute the pitch is completely legal. Would anybody ever teach a young pitcher to pitch like Carlson? My guess is nobody would, but hey, it works for her.

Like most successful pitchers she has found a way to over come her mechanical shortcomings with athletic ability. Few pitchers have anything resembling perfect mechanics, but in the end that is what you must strive for to be successful.

My point is if you attack the pitcher then anything else the team does during the season is irrelevant. There have been many people on this site condemning Tim for recruiting "illegal" pitchers and questioning the legitimacy of their accomplishments:

I think you wrote:

"If Florida or any other team with skippies wins the WCWS they will share the same level of legitimacy as any of the past Wrestleminia Champions."

Yes, if you blatantly work outside the rules any accomplishments are irrelevant. It is often referred to as ill gotten gains. As to my Wrestlemaina comment, my apologies to Vince and the WWE. They are actually pretty upfront about who they are and what they do.

In Tim Walton's defense Kelly Barnhill has been replanting since she was in middle school, so it is not like he taught her those mechanics.

It would be great if some of the umpires who frequent DFP would explain why they choose not to call IPs? Do they not know the rules; are there other areas of the game they are more focused on; and/or have they been told not to call IPs unless its egregious?
