College coaches can call & text a player when?

Am I correct in saying a college coach can call and text an athlete beginning SEPT 1st of their junior year? I'm seeing July 1st following junior year on some sites and I'm seeing Sept 1st of junior year on others...very confusing.

EXAMPLE: Athlete starts junior year August 1st, coach can call and text 1 month later on Sept 1st. (Any link you can provide would be helpful)

It depends on the Division. Here are some fantastic resources that have calendars that you can download based on Division of school. Hope this helps!

Thank you. I'm seeing Sept 1st of Junior Year for D1 and June 15th for D2....am I correct?

Yes, that's how I read it, too. And DIII can reach out to kids any time (except dead/quiet).

July 1 prior to senior year is for D-I off-campus contact (i.e. in-person). D-II off-campus is June 15 before junior year (same date as recruiting materials and telephone calls).

Did that not change when they implemented the texting and social media stuff? So you are for sure certain its not Sept 1st of junior year for D1?

Off-Campus Contact –
• July 1 prior to senior year or the opening day of classes of his or her senior year in high school, whichever is earlier, subject to recruiting calendars

The D-I bylaw still says following junior year (same difference):

13.1.1.1 Time Period for Off-Campus Contacts—General Rule. Off-campus recruiting contacts shall not be made with an individual (or his or her relatives or legal guardians) before July 1 following the completion of his or her junior year in high school (July 7 after the junior year in high school in women’s ice hockey and July 15 after the junior year in high school in women’s gymnastics), or the opening day of classes of his or her senior year in high school (as designated by the high school), whichever is earlier. U.S. service academy exceptions to this provision are set forth in Bylaw 13.16.1.
