Got a call today from parents today that their daughter (2018) was extended a offer to one of her top schools. It is a D2 school and told parents they do not "stack" scholarships, either accept the academic or athletic money but cannot except both, school policy. She was able to get max a academic money so that was more than available athletic money.

Parents asked me for advice but I never heard of this and told them I would post to get additional information. I just thought thought D1/D2 schools a player has opportunity to get both academic and athletic if qualify.

I guess it is up to the school. I had a player tell me this summer.

Pretty much everyone here knows my dd went D-II. She had both academic and athletic. Both were considerable and so, we didn't pay much at all for dd's degree.

Most schools will stack academic and athletic money, but will not stack athletic money and financial aid.

Just talked to parents, they are not eligible for financial aid. The school said they cannot get both academic and athletic scholarship, have to select one. In their case, the academic scholarship is about $7K more than the athletic money.

I would HIGHLY suggest that the parents do some addition investigation because if this is true it is the first school I have ever heard of with this policy. I would bet $1 the coaches are either mis-informed or trying to save some athletic money for other players.

Must be a school rule, if you are trying to get 100% keep looking unless this is the dream school.

Of the other 4 young ladies that signed with my dd, 5 total, only dd kept her academic scholarship monies. It is very hard to keep up academically when and/or if your dd's team is on the road a lot.

I think this is a relatively new thing and more schools may have this restriction going forward. I've heard of at least one D1 who has this policy (no stacking allowed), new school rule as of 2017.
