I would not draw any conclusions either way from this survey. The way it was created is problematic to say the least. It should carry the same weight as your typical social media poll.

Either way, there are some awesome quotes from the coaches!

I am bucking this thread because DD just attended her first college camp and I decided to stay and watch to see how it was operated. With that being said I did not read threw the entire thread so please for give me if this was brought up already and answered. My take from the weekend. I found that the large majority of attention went to the bigger name org's girls no matter what age the group of players were. At one point during the camp I was watching the catchers conduct drills and some of them were very sound at their position which did not get much if any attention or advice from the coaches at the camp (which at this time were student athletes). As the coach was making her observations there was one young lady that was being corrected over and over by the coaching member. At one point one of the actual coaches of the university walks over to the student coach and tells her see that girl right there, (referring to the young lady that was getting a lot of correction) she is the next big thing and walks away. Afterwards the young lady got nothing but praise from the student coach. It was very clear to see that this young was not the best catcher at this event nor was working the hardest. The one thing that she had going for her in my eyes is that she plays for a top 5 org in her age division. I have also seen this young lady play many times in tournaments. My question to you guys is do you think that even college coaches can have on rose colored glasses at times while watching some of the players from the big time org's? It certainly seemed that way to me for my first experience with college softball camps.

Short answer: yes.

I'll add: my freshman college roommate, on full bball scholly, was told in 3rd week "there's nothing left for us to teach you. And we can't teach you to be fast". He transferred to D2 and had a nice 4 years.

Maybe that girl can hit. And she's fast. And has a cannon. And. And.
