Few years back I hopped on board coaching a U16 travel team. They were a great team but they were at a stalemate when it came to hits.
I told then they need to slow their swings down...as you can imagine I got quite a few confused looks. Even by the other coaches. Told the girls that they need...
Sbdad03 I think you have the open and closed backwards. Hiding her logo from the catcher would mean her hips are open. Logo facing catcher would be closed
High pitch - release point was too late
Low pitch - release point to early
Inside pitch (RHB) hips rotated too early
Outside pitch (RHB) glove hand/shoulder not in line with catcher (where ever the glove hand goes, the ball goes)
From there it's easy to fix any pitch
High and outside -...
Yeah your video she does a long stride for sure. Must be the pitch. Thought the delivery is supposed to be the same for all pitches Though? As a catcher I use to be able to tell what pitchers were going to pitch due to variations in their delivery motion. Figured it as the same for fastpitch...

Just have a question that hopefully Rick can answer. This is no way a critique as obviously Sara is a very successful pitcher. I was wondering why her stride is so short. She's quite tall and wonder why she doesn't stride out even...
Omg I love that little jig at the end of the pitch lol. Looks good! For starters, Tell her to start with her right leg on the power line. Right now she's jumping to the left in order to get her left foot onto the power line. Right foot starts on power line to push out, left foot strides out and...
I let my catcher call the shots on the field. I may nudge them in the right direction when needed but as a catcher myself, I laugh when ever I see a coach giving catcher signals from the bench every pitch. Robs the pitcher and catcher of one of the best parts about having the position and trust...
Lol sorry. New to the forum. Didn't realize it was a sore subject previously hashed out. I just don't like how the announcers say that every young pitcher needs to watch this, knowing it's a very questionable delivery. Why teach young pitchers this when you know most umps will call them on it...
Thanks guys. As I said im aware of most of the issues from the video regarding hip position, BI etc. She was doing fine in the early part of practice till she got tired. The only thing she was doing both at the beginning and end of practise was her drive leg coming through too quickly which...
Why does her drive leg follow the stride leg so quickly? How do we fix that? I know there are some issues in this video that I'm already aware of. In hindsight I should have taken video towards beginning of practice. This is an hour in and her mechanics have broken down due to being tired. FYI...
Yeah that's what I was figuring. Not ideal to teach that to young pitchers off the bat. In order to maintain FSR with the toe pointed towards the catcher needs a well developed core
I find it odd the Euno plants her foot with her toes essentially pointing at the plate...but who am I to judge someone who throws in the mid 70s lol kinda just goes against the 45° that girls are taught from a young age. Why is that? Maybe due to the way she fires her hips earlier than most?
