I wish someone answered this! I was wondering the same thing. I've talked to one kid that said she didn't like it but I wonder if its the spin control or the fact that it is her first A2000 and she's just struggling with the break in.
I agree. I think this is the number 1 reason travel ball exploded in the 10u age group and is starting to take hold in 8u. Maybe the recent issues with COVID-19 will slow down the 8u thing. These younger kids really need to go back to another year of rec ball and all stars but the the parents...
Back in 8u (coach pitch) rec days, we are playing in the opening season tournament championship game against our rival. They were our rival because the coach's wife and a few other parents on that team were just jerks...all the time.
Bases are loaded, 2 outs and we are down a couple of runs...
I have some players that want to attend a D1 camp together. Yes, I know, this is not the route for recruitment. That's not what I'm looking for. These girls are high B to A level travel ball players that are interested in seeing a big time stadium, coach, players, campus, etc. - all the things...
How do you get in reps at full speed? I definitely can't pitch at game speed and that has to be true of 99% of us. Are you using a machine? If so I guess that means your DD feels like it translates to timing a live pitcher pretty well? I've always heard kids say its very different so I've...
I missed your post before my earlier reply. Your DD got the same 12.5 my DD got...and looks like we have the same story, pretty tough break in. And similar to your experience, the SS on our travel team got a 11.75 on the exact same day and hers broke in much quicker.
So it looks like the...
We have not owned a Vinci so I can't make a direct comparison but my 14u DD got a new Marucci OF glove this past winter. I thought it was a beast to break in. My 12u DD picked a Rawlings HOH infielders glove. I won't call it an easy break in, but nothing compared the the Marucci.
I agree. I never missed a ball because my glove was floppy or didn't hold up for the catch.
I started this post, as I was starting the search for new gloves for my kids. My 2 choices were the Shoeless Jane because I like the "floppy glove" or a Vinci because everyone ravs about them. I know...
I guess it really just comes down to personal preference. If you like your glove and you're making the play...who cares what kind of glove you're wearing. I just want to get it right because I need to buy 2 of them. I'd like to NOT have both my kids come to me in a year and say, ya this one...
So this may make me sound a little naive...and I probably am to an extent yet also well experienced...so here it goes.
Why does a glove need to be so rigid? I've searched Shoeless Jane on the forums and see alot of complaints about it being "floppy" and the fingers not rigid enough. I may...
I have 2 girls in need of new gloves. In an ideal world we'd pull up to a sporting goods store and let them try on every great glove out there and I'd let them pick based on their preference. But we don't get that option so I'm down to going off other people's opinions, like yours, mixed in...
