In club hockey, there is only a single governing body, and the rules are such that you have to get a release from a team in order to play for another team. If you quit, chances are you sit out the rest of the year.
I would check this. I am not an accountant or a tax attorney, but my reading of the 501(c)(7) code is that the club itself is tax-exempt, but sponsors cannot write off donations the same way they can for a 501(c)(3). We encourage our sponsors to write their donations off as advertising...
NSA now requires that you purchase NSA insurance. You can purchase a team policy for the weekend as an option for NSA. USSSA and PONY will take their own insurance as well as other organizations. For ASA qualifiers, you will need to register individual players with ASA, and this comes with...
There is a reason the show is called "Dance Moms" and not "Dance Dads". There would not be enough drama if the dads were the ones making the decisions regarding their DDs.
I agree that one does not have to play for one of the big name organizations to be successfully recruited, especially if you are a lights out player. However, an average player on an average team that is just starting to play showcases has little to no realistic shot. I think you would agree...
The entire reason to put together a video to send a coach is to market your player to that coach. What skills/talents/assets are you trying to sell? First you have to decide what makes her most attractive to a coach and put that right up front. If there is not a "WOW" factor in the first 10...
I am neither pro or anti-mask. However, if you know a a college coach is anti-mask, and your player wears one, and you feel better having her wear one, why would you ever want your kid play for a coach that is anti-mask? You are asking for that person to change their stripes because you have a...
Wow, 15 pages of comments! This one is approaching a record for length for a Mask thread. However, it is nowhere near as long as one of the Technical Hitting Threads.
If this was your son playing baseball and the coach yelled at him for not wearing a mask at SS, would you even ask this question? What would your response have been?
This is what I imagine:
1st pitch - HBP
2nd pitch - strike 1, PB, advance to 2B
3rd pitch - strike 2, PB, advance to 3B
4th pitch - DTS, runner out at 1st, runner from 3B scores
5th pitch - pop up, 2 outs
6th pitch - pop up, 3 outs
There is clearly a myth going around about sponsors and travel ball teams. Sure there might be one or two that have a cash cow that covers most of the costs, but let's get real here. When people talk about sponsors, the big names like Mizuno or Louisville don't write a check. They provide...
Happens all the time. One daddy coach sees some better players on another daddy coaches team that he wants to help put a better team around his own DD. Can be in the same organization, different organization, within the same team, it's all the same. Daddy coaches want to surround their DD with...
The only working scoreboards that we saw this year were the ones that counted down the time on the clock in showcases. No need to know what the score is.
This reminds me of one of my favorite shows growing up - "ABC's Wide World of Sports". Without that show, I would NEVER have learned about cliff diving in Acapulco!
I have been asked to not film a game by a team once last year (14U). The coach was concerned about the dissemination of the video images on the internet. I respected his concern and did not film the game. However, not sure what he's going to do at showcases if they ever get to that level.
