What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

Exactly! Currently she is working hard on pitching but is way more comfortable and has more fun behind the plate. Most of what I'm reading is that one of the positions will take center or fade heading into 14U.

Thanks for the advice and perspective. I don't want to discourage her but want to be realistic.

What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

She will be one of the backup catchers. The team currently has 1 primary, 2 backup catchers or players w secondary position as catcher. She will be 1 of 3 backup catchers. Her proficiency is 1B,OF,P,C She now says can I just learn to throw righty and play SS? Lol

What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

Exactly! She enjoys developing as a pitcher but catching seems more fun. It’s more fun for the entire family considering the stress of pitching. She plans to be a backup catcher for her team and continue to work on the pitching to see where it goes. Underlying I think she sense that being left...

What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

The exhaustion and not being able to pitching after catching is my concern. I just don’t know if we should say no catching to keep pitching open. Or let her have fun and just play. Lefty issues.. her ideal would be working her tail off earning P/1B/OF

What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

That makes more sense. Maybe “have to choose” seems harsh. She’s likes being behind the plate too since she likes the action. I have gotten many comments of you have to choose one or can’t be an expert at everything. I don’t really get why she can’t for now, if she’s hustling outfield and...

What age do you have to commit/choose pitching or catching?

My DD plays 12U is left handed and previously was catching. She now is working on pitching but was asked to catch again. She really enjoys both and first base /outfield.

    practical help with drive mechanics

This is great. She works drills with shin angles and floor pressure but is not implementing the push forward to achieve the weightless motion. I get that it will take time but this gives her the feeling in the right direction.

    practical help with drive mechanics

I just asked her about using the momentum of her arm to push off the mound and she started giggling and laughing. Making pushing moves with her arms..She knows exactly what’s going on. She’s gonna have to continue to stick with getting the legs driving and arms timed up until she’s allowed to...

    practical help with drive mechanics

I never thought about it that way. She’s a lefty. I do see that she uses the momentum of the left arm vs using her left leg/drive leg to push toward. She’s a strong kid and pitches 48 -50 mph without using her legs effectively. (If she pushed we her legs she flys forward and loses control- her...

    practical help with drive mechanics

My DD is 12 and started pitching last fall 12U. She is effective, not top maybe pool pitching (fastball/drop and change). She is having a lot of trouble transferring her driving drill mechanics into her pitch. She is a very strong kid, I’m thinking it could do a lot with coordination and...

    Home made pitching mat

This is very helpful! I'm keen on the idea of keeping them separate for possible outdoor use (we have a large open area) and or bracket bolts for indoor garage. Now that I think about the weight I'm less inclined to have them permanently fixed. My DD is only 5'4 but just turned 12. I will go...

    New to Travel Etiquette

At age 11 first year 12 U how important is it to have very experienced and college level coaches? The dilemma I'm having is the experienced coaching staff team has 1 player (been on the team awhile and seem loyal to the family - if thats a big thing too idk) in my DD position and 3 in her other...
