And my daughter is 5'1", so unless she has a huge growth spurt I don't see her getting picked over someone taller for 1B in HS? Maybe I am wrong. She is a smart player but that reach sure helps! True about the outfield, thanks!
Agree, and she does want to continue playing especially in High School but not sure about college. College ball was a goal before but do all 13 year olds know what they want, seems to change...lol! I know some girls are dead set on college ball but that is not my daughter's #1 goal!
She has always had to compete for playing time and rarely complained about that, she wants to be challenged and has been. It is just unfortunate the situation, where most teams are already formed and she is confused where she fits in.
Agree, it is that middle ground (her level) we are looking for but haven't found yet. We are late to tryouts here and most teams are already formed. Also, I think she will get mound time regardless but she really wants to be better at other positions an not just sit if not pitching.
I agree, especially for a pitcher, but she is worried that she will end up getting disappointed. She is a pitcher that produces pop ups and soft contact, so when your team can't back you up (not saying they can't, just as an example) it gets frustrating after a while.
So my daughter's current team did not make, so we have to find a new team...
My daughter is struggling with what she wants, does she pick a team that is playing at a lower level but she will get plenty of play time (on the mound and different positions)? The coaches are nice but the structure...
I don't have any real advice but good for your DD for wanting to push her self! You never really know what you will get yourself into but sounds like at least the 2nd team is established, I would maybe go to an open practice and see how the coaches interact with the girls?? Also she could get...
We struggle with this at home too, 13 year old. Playing basketball after school practice until 5:30. Softball team practice 2x a week until 9pm. Pitching one night a week, gets home close to 9pm. Basketball game 1x a week, home at 9pm. Try to squeeze in a batting lesson. All pre-AP classes...
I follow this one too and she just started a remote program. https://www.ruggedsoftball.com/
She is really good: https://kerrifosterblog.com/book-a-session

We have a really good pitching coach but also interested in an online program to help...
My daughter started learning a curve ball a few months ago (and now her release is off on her other pitches) and everything is curving. Her pitching coach says that is normal and to focus on her release with each pitch. Well she was so nervous to pitch in the game due to not being able to make...
I am sure you are right, they differ from brand to brand. She wants a smaller one to pitch, but by smaller I think she really means a light weight glove so it doesn't hinder her glove arm motion. She is pretty good at gripping the ball in her glove, so not worried too much about that.
