Interesting article about travel ball and recruiting

this is a great article and mirrors a lot of what I've always thought ('Why don't you just put all that money in a savings for college"). It's especially important for parents to read if they have a daughter who isn't interested in playing in college, to make sure you select the right team. My...

14U team DQ'ed at LL World Series for social media post

I agree. When my DD played all stars it was because her travel org was affiliated with the LL and it was required all players 10u and younger also participate in Spring LL . I can only speak for my family we weren't particularly interested in her playing LL but it was a requirement that year...

14U team DQ'ed at LL World Series for social media post

In "Little League" perhaps they are . It's a little league tournament not a travel/showcase tournament

14U team DQ'ed at LL World Series for social media post

This is a team of some very solid players. They are the same age as my DD and yes it's a little league World Series but don't let the name fool you they are all seasoned travel ball players that play LL in Spring in order to go to the World Series. When my DD was 10 (3 +years ago) we played...

    Pitcher with a fast delivery

This My DD was a little bit of a quick pitcher in the beginning (9-10 years old). Because she was a little nervous. We always were telling her to slow down between pitches. Walk off the rubber between batters, take a deep breath before starting etc. She stopped quick pitching. Now she just...

    "You can't clock our pitchers"

I recently had my pocket radar out at a 12U open tournament. I clocked every pitcher from every game that was happening while I was there. Including my own daughter. I did it for my own knowledge because I know my DD's speed in practice and wanted to see her game speed as well as how sh compared...

    Screwball is causing elbow pain

My DD gets elbow/forearm pain. We have isolated it to "most likely" being from improper overhand throwing, but it does bother her if she throws the screwball a lot as well. We ice her elbow and forearm after pitching. she also uses a flexbar for forearm /elbow tendon strengthening as well and...

Ripken/Jennie Finch Throw Like a Girl tourney in Myrtle

Yeah I kinda expected she'd just do the first day opening ceremony stuff. I have scoured the internet trying to see how it goes, like do only the girls on the team get to sit down where she's speaking and the parents/siblings have to sit back in bleachers kind of removed from it all? If that's...

Ripken/Jennie Finch Throw Like a Girl tourney in Myrtle

Anyone been to this? My (14U) DD's team is going. But my (12U) younger DD will be with us and she would like to be able to sit with the team on opening day for Jennie Finch stuff, meet Jennie take pic etc. My Older DD's coach says we should probably roster my younger DD to the team so we can...

    Shoulder at pitch finish (video)

I know. :-) It may be a little of both. She got IR pretty early on (age 10) and has a good arm whip. I think she may muscle it occasionally. and I think her torso maybe rotates more than it should occasionally. I will continue to try to get the video. I was mostly concerned if finishing this...

    Shoulder at pitch finish (video)

Thanks Ken, yes I think she may have a tendency to rotate her torso in a little more than she should at times, which could be what starts this chain reaction, or is at least a part of it. She's just 11 so we constantly check and work on stuff......always working :-)

    Shoulder at pitch finish (video)

Maybe she's muscling it a little on some pitches. It's not every time. I just notice it after release sometimes in her follow through her hand continued to rotate in and it pulls her shoulder. Kind of similar to what you see Sarah's shoulder do here at the O:10 mark but a little more exaggerated...

thanks for the visual Ken, kind of grosses me out and kind of reminds me what our bodies are capable of without ripping apart at the seams :p

    Shoulder at pitch finish (video)

her IR is good. She doesn't do this every pitch, its a weird follow through she does sometimes. Like she continues to rotate her hand inward even after she releases the ball and it pulls the shoulder up. It's not every pitch. but this was for sure a regular old fastball she's throwing in the...
