First thing to develop hip thrust is to see if the athlete is glute-dominant or quad-dominant. Try this assessment and have general awareness of how the athlete changes levels (for instance to field a ground ball).
<<< How to assess quad dominance? Originally discussed in this thread (link)...
I don't know what's going on, but whenever I load threads like the model pitchers database with gif's in it, the gif's do not play full length... In the past, gifs would not appear until they loaded. Now they appear right away and don't play full length, it's like they only loop through 10% of...
What makes IR whip work in fastpitch is the same as whip created in an overhand throw. It is by maxing out the ER of the shoulder socket. At the highest level of both throwing mechanics the arm is forcibly ER'd due to forward momentum and bio-mechanically forced hip snap.
As the arm...
From my experience, natural barrel turners are pretty rare... There are a few who turn the barrel late, but most players knob to the ball and then hinge-unhinge into contact...
It sounds like teach/no-teach aside, this board now agrees that TTB is directionally correct? If there are still...
You could say the same thing about Jennie Finch pitching, but the mechanics she promoted did serious damage to countless youth pitchers. Only those who grew beyond her teachings survived, those who stayed the course failed.
It's definitely great to listen whenever a pro has insight to offer...
TM's mechanics pulled Kingery out of the minors and he's not a big guy... Lotief was a former HI member and his TTB mechanics put ULL on the map for hitting, but maybe transforming a no-name D1 into a national hitting powerhouse is to low level to merit any credit.
Getting the pelvis over and around the ball of the femur is VERY unnatural. It's rare to see anyone luck into the pattern. Kids will almost never transition, they will just push with their hip until the sport is done with them. What the coach is trying to teach is a special move.
If you follow his Twitter feed, he's done a great job of teaching lateral tilt and barrel turn to very young kids. I wouldn't be quick to shrug him off...
Not sure what you are talking about. You don't resist coiling in you loading movement when the front shoulder goes down and in. Resisting is what you do as you swing.
Keeping it simple, if you stand vertical and coil your rear hip, your shoulders will turn parallel to the ground. If you hip...
