Actually, D-1 schools are only allowed to attend high school games in the fall until the weekend of Oct 15. They are not allowed to attend travel ball games before that.
Second, you actually get better weather in Aug-Oct than you do in Feb-May. Many, many more rainouts in the spring(right now...
My point was not that I had some type of great plan. It was that my buddies and I recognized early on not to get overly crazy at an early age. Looking back we make such a big deal about the small stuff. At 8U, 10u and even 12u it is all small stuff.

These girls are 8U. There is plenty of time to run a Mike Candrea practice in years to come. Can't you just let the girls sit back and enjoy the experience of a team and the game? HC's daughter getting a couple more pitches at batting practice is not going to hinder your daughters development...
KSU,
Thanks for your input. Sorry I took a while to respond, but haven't been on the site since I last posted. For some reason, the site doesn't load on my computer and I can only access it from my IPad through Tapatalk...
Anyway, I appreciate your feelings regarding these events. I'm glad...
Don't put words in my mouth...There is a big difference in the Women's National Team or the Junior National Team and the select 30 or a USA 12U All Stars team.
As for you and your DD, congratulations! It sounds like you had the right experience for you. However, I would caution that you don't...
I'm not a big believer in the "individualistic events" such as these. I coach a 16 Gold team out of the Midwest. I just believe that you play for the name on the front of the jersey, and not the back...Our team is not interested in having the "me" players on our team. I do not turn our girls...
There was a Firecrackers team "from California" that had 20 plus players on it. The girls didn't even know each other's names. The pitcher was announced on FloSoftball as being from Macon Georgia.

That is simply not true. Paige Parker throws a very, very good curveball. Maybe you just didn't watch the National Champions play this year or last?

Sounds like you should find another team if you don't agree with the coach and their rules. Right or wrong the team rules are for everyone and are there for a reason.
There are plenty of parents that "know" what they are doing and over coach. How can we be sure they are the exception to the...
Buy your daughter the book, "Play Big". It is a mental training book that addresses slumps and how to overcome the negative thoughts & feelings.

Sounds like you got to try them out as much as they were trying out your DD. That is not a bad scenario for you. She knocked some rust off and got a feel for their coaching style without having to commit to them.
FWIW, we asked a catcher to guest catch with us on an indoor tournament this...
If she shows up for tryouts on crutches, then she should get an extension on her tryout. Technically, she is not on the team until after she tries out, but by making the effort to show up you are allowing her tryout to be completed at a later date.
