    Thank you. 😊

    Why D1 ?

I guess I should be okay with the fact that my granddaughter doesn't care to play in college then... Keep hoping she changes her mind, but for what? :(

Well, we're actually happy with her swing, feel the homeruns will happen as she's gotten very close. Her AVG., OPS and other metrics are really good and the ball gets out there pretty quick. What got me thinking about this though is, my finding a brand new, Easton FP18GH10, in a 32" length...

    Bat size

My granddaughter has been swinging a 33 -10, for a few years now. She is 5’3, 115lns. and will most likely not be getting any taller. She’ll be 17 in a week. My question is, she has had a line drive, gap to gap swing that has gotten very near to the fences at times. She’s hit a few over in...

    14/16/18

What I've seen is the 16s that go straight to 18u, sit a lot due to the fact that the already committed, get the playing time. Seems illogical to me to have what is thought to be, top 16s, not playing.

Fake Bunts - Giving up Strikes

I hate it! At that age, kids need to be aggressive at the plate. I advocate for being ready to hit that first pitch because it might be the best pitch they see. Wasting it on a fake bunt is sacraligious in my opinion. Our high school coach commonly calls for bunts against really tough...

Front foot - up on toe?

Good question! My granddaughter does this and I'm not sure if it's correct or not, but I wonder if it assists in keeping weight back when loading? Also, I have seen major league hitters do this too and barely stride at all, just setting that lead foot down and swinging.

Struggling with a team. Advice please

Take each one aside and tell them how good they can be, how you see them as a potential leader and want to see them achieve what you believe their potential is, but only if they love to play. With all of that comes responsibility to lead by example...and then see what happens. ;)

    Fastpitchmedia videos

I wouldn't want to make one unless it stood out in some way, like a real highlight reel might. Seems a lot of the skills videos look the same.

Are these recommended or of value?

    Stats question

Can’t escape the local newspaper write-ups though. Ours covers all the games and West Coast Preps, an online newsletter we have access to here, covers teams from the entire region. Even the kids know who’s who on other teams.

    Stats question

What about BARISP? Wouldn’t that be a fairly accurate indicator of a hitters production? In high school, there’s mostly always someone in base, even at the lower end of the line-up. And wouldn’t OPS be an accurate indication of…something?

    High School Daddy Ball

Maybe I'm naive but, I have wondered why coaches would do this? You hear it over and over again about how a coach plays kids that only help the team to lose yet, coach is stubborn about them playing every inning of every game. Why? Are they in love with the kid? I can't think of any other...

    High School Daddy Ball

But couldn't it be approached from a, "Why do we have parent coaches in a high school program"??? Seems no better than rec. Parents should be no where near a high school team other than in the bleachers.
