I did get an email from her current coach this morning letting me know he picked up a pitcher and to keep looking for one more (so we can carry 3). I've been helping out on the search. Her team as a tryout this weekend, so we'll probably be able to fill the roster. However, I still have an issue with so many girls not being dedicated to this. I get that HS girls play other sports and that is fine, but DD put SB 1st no matter what. She quit the cross country team this week because they have meets on Saturdays. Not going to happen for her. They should have other interests, but DD is looking for a team where other sports are secondary to softball.
So we will see how it goes this weekend and should be able to make a good decision one way or the other.
They are both 14U teams, but the first is playing up in 16U and should be moving up permanently by next fall. The second is also a 14U team (also playing in the Ronald McDonald and at several round robins at college campuses), but they are a younger and will be in 14U for at least two full years. She can only play 14U for until the end of next spring. Both teams are A rated. I am crossing my fingers for team #1.
We were going to pick up this weekend, but that fell through. which is ok because it is going to allow her to hit a tryout of a team that she originally tried out for a couple of seasons ago. It is a great org and they are a good team that is playing in the Ronald McDonald and some showcase tourneys this fall. It would be a huge opportunity. The team that she was going to pick up with wants her to come out to practice next week to see if she would be a good fit for a permanent spot. She has a pretty good private workout the other night. We got stuck doing everything in the outfield (because of rec pratices), but she looked pretty sharp.I can really empathize with your dilemma and I hope it works out. Is there a chance you can pick up with a team just for the Fall? Just tell your coach that she wants to play in tournaments NOW; especially showcases! Tell him you will come back if he has a fully committed roster in the spring. Wish you lived near us! -
