    GoPro Hero 7

We recently started using a Hero 7 Black for our games. Videos look really good. But, it shut down in the middle of a few games that were played in our 87 degree heat wave last weekend. :) Night game it was fine. Is everyone turning WiFi off as suggested?

    Crow hopping

My observation of college games is a pitcher can crow hop if she doesn't leap to get to her re-plant. Leaping = drag foot getting airborne. Very little advantage to be had. Crow hopping is that 2nd push. All the base ump has to look at is if the back foot is positioned in the drag to bear...

Pitching toe guard for turf shoes?

I used truck bed liner on some adidas cleats my daughter decided she liked better than ringors. Similar to tuff toe pro goop but takes longer to dry.

    Revfire2 stats

Did you ever figure this out? Our team just got these and we are getting 5-7+ mph higher than the pocket radar ball coach. 43' to plate, catcher's feet 3 feet behind the plate. Revfire2 set to 43'. Any ideas?

Either my Pocket Radar is inaccurate...

Yeah, similar happened to me at tryouts but was getting 45 on my ballcoach when she said it should be 50. I tried to then hide what I was getting because she was a nice girl. But, by now she would ask on every pitch - lol. 44, 45, 43, 44. She then asked if it would be faster if I got behind the...

    Psycho Parent qu'est-ce que?

Just the other day I was talking to a young coach and asked her what she learned in her first year of coaching high school ball. She said after the game get to the parking lot as soon as possible and try not to make eye contact with any parents. :p :(

    Riseball

This actually looks just like my 11 year olds rise ball. I guess she can start to use this in tournament play...;)

    Pitching 10u blues

DD's first season of pitching was 10u rec when she was 9. Five months of practice over the winter with some Hillhouse videos and she was a monster in rec. The first month was hard as it was either a K or a walk - and about 1 to 1 ratio. :) She was not happy with the walks and felt she was...

    Spring season or fall season

Oregon HS softball is played in the spring. I presume it is to see how many games can get rained out, or how soggy the outfield can be and still play the game? :) No MS ball that I know of in the Portland area.

    college game thoughts

11 is a record? DD beat that in just her first season pitching when she was 9...several times.

    Monday brag 5-1-17

With the rain this spring we have only played six games. Finally, the forecast was good for the weekend but dd woke up Saturday morning with allergies that made her look like something from Dawn of the Dead. Eyes were bloodshot, sore throat, couldn't breathe. She was extremely frustrated with...

    Hardest flaw to fix

How does one even do a drill to fix this? I think we did an hour lesson one time when the PC would push against dd's butt so she could not stick it out even on 12oclock drills - lol. And then sometimes she does not stick it out and has some good brush...

SEC Strike Zone Discussed by Announcers during MIZZ/BAMA Game

Took dd to the Ducks, ASU game last Saturday. Megan Kleist started. I thought she threw beautifully, but after a while dd said the HP umpire's low strike zone was higher than she sees in tournaments, lol. Kleist was really getting squeezed to bring the ball up.

    The Kelly Barnhill Thread

I'm such an idiot. My then new pitcher, and nine year old, developed this exact crow hop from a winter of pitching on cement and not wanting to drag the toe of her pretty tennis shoes on the rough ground. I finally noticed it, hard to see from the bucket in winter light, and she spent a month of...

more drama from Florida v Auburn

As a coach I like to go down the line and congratulate the other team for competing how they did. I like to think my players feel the same way. But, many times it seems to have devolved into a mindless charade of each player repeating good game good game and just keeping their hand up so it...
