Really like her back leg into impact - she stays down really well and gets good direction with knee. Almost seems like she tilts/sits into that swing even though it was not necessarily a low pitch. Very nice
This is really good. The figure 4 drill
I mentioned and finishing down to lead leg knee to ground was based on the first swings you put up. She is coiling well staying down and not popping up out of her legs really well here. See her back leg staying bent and getting good direction with back...
A lot of good going on here. But I have a drill for you. Figure 4 - start standing on back leg slightly bent with lead knee in the air forming a figure 4. Coil into back leg (get down in leg a bit and slightly turn hips away from catcher a few inches but don’t move shoulders) and then stride...
Tamu was using Rawlings and the girls I spoke to about it said they were not fans of the Rawlings bats. You really had to hit it perfect and a lot harder than the others for it to go out.
Personally, I hate pitching machines - I think they ruin timing more than anything.
Here is what I would do: if you have anywhere or similar foam balls I would use those. If you can use real balls in the gym I would use those .
Setup a screen with three plate locations first about 15 feet...
Great post, westwind. Let me add - the whole showcase process is a disservice to the kids too. The showcase game process is not same as the competitive playing to win, lose then play your way back through the losers bracket that our girls loved in 10U-14U. Kids can lose their competitive...
Thank you for sharing. This is important for parents to read so that they can be aware and look for these things. I know what you mean about wanting to play - my daughter sees it all the time in HS - they are all nursing something or another and many shouldn’t play but do at times. It is a...
I still have my 32/22 sitting in garage - only has about one tournament of swings and a little scratch on it. Basically brand new. My daughter didn’t like it - wanted the sound of the LXT. I will sell it if someone wants it.
Two different things here. If 3rd is playing too close then they need to be ready for a hit ball. I agree with this. You said show bunt and if their fielder crashes, then smoke them. I disagree with this. What if it doesn’t get past her cleanly? What if it lines into the 3rd baseman’s...
Not a fan of this reason - I would hate for a 3rd baseman to crash and the batter pull back and kill her. I am ok with the obvious timing slash but to try to fool them and smoke them...no place for that in Softball (my DD plays some third). Irresponsible coaching to do that in my opinion.
